Can we be saved after death? 

What happens to people who die and don't know Jesus? Can we be saved after death? Listen to the stories of spirits who died and didn't know Jesus. All tell a story of the possibility of being saved in the afterlife.

The story of Sharon, who was saved after death

Each time I prepare to meet with a spirit, I start with prayer. This morning, I ask to be able to tell a story of one who has a testimony of Christ as the Redeemer.

I pray and ask for Theodore. Theodore is my guide who helps when I meet with these spirits. He appears, frazzled and very busy. I thank him for his time and he is genuinely grateful someone would honor him in this way. He presents Sharon. She reminds me of the girl from Max Lucado's book, You Are Special. Thin, bright, and light.

This is the conversation I had with Sharon. She begins:

"Hello. I know that Jesus lives. He is my Savior. Without him, I wouldn’t be where I am today. He rescued me from the depths of hell when I was lost. I was a drunk once. I grew up in an abusive home. It wasn’t until I came here that I learned there was even another way."

How did you learn? What was it like when you first came here?

"Dark and gloomy. I felt lost. I didn’t know where to go. There is so much to explore but I didn’t have a map, so I wandered a lot. I was quite lost. I don’t think I even realized I was dead and here at first."

What changed?

"I saw two beings of light one day. I suppose they’d always been there, perhaps, but I saw them now. I was so curious and intrigued! I moved closer and saw them more clearly. They were beautiful and glowing. I had to know how to become like that. I think they must have sensed that I was looking for something, and that I was curious about them."

"When we met, they were so kind. I didn’t know anyone could ever be that kind. I’d never experienced anything like it. It was just so beautiful. When they spoke to me, I felt peace wash over me. They told me about a being named Jesus Christ, and that he was the reason for their light. I wanted to know all I could about him."

What was the transformation like that you went through to become who you are now?

"It was at the same time exceedingly difficult and the easiest thing ever. It feels like it took eons, and yet it happened in an instant. It was destructive and yet purifying and cleansing all at the same time. I loved it and yet hated it. And yet, I would go through it all again in an instant to get to where I am today."

What do you do now?

"Find others who are lost like I was, and show them the way. There is no other way that brings what you’re searching for. This is the only way. All else is counterfeit."

Can we really be saved after death?

Time after time, I meet with spirits who died and didn't know who Christ was. Each of these spirits share the same common story. When they die, they often don't recognize that they are dead. The world they seek is dark and gloomy, and there is a lot to explore. Eventually, they all find spirits who preach the gospel, and they all have the opportunity to be saved. 

You can read the story of Kathryn, who was a queen.  Or of Janet, a businesswoman. Or of Steve and Bill, two teenagers. Or even this post, which has small stories from a number of spirits. Then there is the story of Karen, who grew up in an abusive home and was homeless. There's even this story of Peter, who forgot about Jesus while he was here on earth.

I was raised to believe that if we didn't learn of Christ while we lived on this earth, we would go to hell for eternity. However, this never made sense to me. What about all of those who lived but never learned of Christ? If you lived in a time or in a place where no one knew of Christ, why would a loving God send you someplace to suffer for eternity? This is simply illogical.

We know that God loves us, and that He loves us so much that He sent Jesus Christ into the world for us.

Because He loves us, He gives us a way to return to Him, even if that means some people have to wait until after they die to learn of Christ.

We are eternal souls, here on earth for a tiny part of our eternal journey. We lived as spirits before we were born, came to earth to gain experience in this physical body, and will continue to progress and learn after we die.

As you continue to seek after God and Jesus, you will grow closer to them and come to know more about who you truly are and what life is all about.

God love you! You are His child, and are special to Him. He wants you to be with Him for eternity, and has provided a way. Keep searching, and you will find, just as I did, and just as these spirits have.
