Life on earth can be hard. It feels dark and lonely oftentimes. But the gospel of Jesus Christ is meant to bring us joy, not darkness. 'Down Below' is a poem about seeing with new eyes that perceive the joy and beauty that brings light to dark days.

How Christ brings light
There are so many things on this earth that call for our attention! I don't just mean all of the things on our "to do" lists. Often, I feel like a kid in a candy store....
There's movies, shopping, fairs and festivals, music, social media, and so many things to see, experience, and do. I love new experiences, and want to try it all! What to choose first??
Years ago, before I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I lived as most people of the world live...although I believed in Christ, I didn't really follow him or keep the commandments. I made a lot of choices that didn't bring me joy. At the time, they seemed normal and natural...but I came to feel like I was simply wandering through life unfulfilled.
The things I was choosing didn't bring me lasting happiness or joy. Instead, they left me feeling more and more empty.
When we're feeling darkness, we naturally look for something to make us feel better. But hopefully, eventually, we realize that those choices aren't working, and we keep seeking for something else.
I'm still prone to choosing a bit of dark chocolate, or to spending time browsing herbal videos online. Decades ago, I chose things that were much less good for my soul, as many do every day.
Eventually, I came to realize that there was nothing in this world that would bring the peace I was seeking. That peace had to come from within.
As I started my journey to Christ, I found more and more joy in my days. I stopped choosing relationships and wine, and chose instead yoga, meditation, and scriptures. I was discovering that it truly is Christ who brings the light to our dark days.
That's how this poem came to me....I sat down to meditate one morning, and it just started. (All of the poems I receive come by direct revelation - you can read more about that here.)
Down Below
Write of me, so people can see
The Truth they do not know.
Covered in fears, hidden in tears
And sorrows of life down below.
Music and joy, and laughter abounds
Up where the angels do dwell.
The sounds pierce the hearts of those who come to Me,
In whose bodies the Spirit doth dwell.
Misery and woe, suff’ring and pain
Leave many locked in their hearts.
They cannot hear Me, my voice has been squelched
And they wander around in the dark.
But with eyes to see, the wonders behold!
For beauty is all around.
Love fills the air, the choirs do sing,
All creation confirms there is a King!
A One to behold who desires one thing,
To bring all under his wing.
To guide and protect, to nurture and show
The way to eternal delight.
Come follow Me, for there you will see
The way is always bright.
The path clear and free, no stumbling is needed,
I AM, ever present, the Light.
I love the peace I feel just from reading this poem. Isn't the imagery of One who wants only one thing - to bring all under his wing - just beautiful?
"Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing." (Luke 13:34, NIV)
This is Christ speaking. He was sad about the people of Jerusalem who were so evil and wouldn't believe on Him. All we need to do is to be willing to have even a particle of faith, and start seeking for Him, and we will find the relief we seek.
Relief sometimes comes in an instant, and other times takes longer. But if we seek and grow little by little, day by day, we will find more and more joy and happiness in our lives.
If your heart is feeling extra heavy and dark, I invite you to book a Heart Wall energy clearing session. This will help immensely in clearing out the darkness and bringing in more light.
